NEW DELHI: India said on Monday that it has noted the verdict against Bangladesh’s former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, hours after a Dhaka court sentenced her to death for ordering a deadly crackdown on a student-led uprising last year.

“As a close neighbour, India remains committed to the best interests of the people of Bangladesh…We will always engage constructively with all stakeholders to that end,” India’s foreign ministry said in a statement.
