Afghan soil being used for attacks despite repeated warnings: interior minister
- Mohsin Naqvi praises armed forces for thwarting terrorists attempt to carry out APS-style attack
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Saturday said Pakistan has repeatedly asked Afghanistan to prevent the use of its soil for terrorist attacks inside Pakistan.
Speaking to tribal notables at Cadet College Wana, the interior minister said despite repeated requests to Kabul to curb cross-border militant attacks, the attacks continued.
The Ministry of Interior in a statement said Naqvi emphasised that elements from across the border were implicated in various terrorist activities, including the recent attack in Islamabad and Wana.

He also mentioned that Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal, Syed Asim Munir had conveyed messages to the Afghan authorities, emphasising that there would be no compromise on terrorism.
The tribal notables, while strongly condemning terrorism, paid tributes the sacrifices of security forces in the war on terrorism. They said they stand by the security forces in the fight against this menace.
On this occasion, Naqvi praised Pakistan Army and Frontier Corps personnel for thwarting an attempt by terrorists to carry out an APS-style attack at Cadet College Wana, rescuing all students and staff unharmed.
During his visit to the college, the minister was received by IG Frontier Corps Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (South) Major General Mehr Umar Khan. He met the officers and soldiers who repelled the assault as well as the cadets and teachers who were safely evacuated.
Naqvi was briefed on the operation that foiled the militants’ bid and ensured the secure rescue of every student and teacher. He lauded the troops’ “exceptional bravery and professionalism,” calling the rescuers “heroes of the nation.”
“They are not even terrorists. They are beasts with no link to humanity,” the minister said, condemning the attackers. “No religion permits targeting children, and these beasts have no religion. Calling them human is an insult to humanity.”
The interior minister also commended the high morale of the cadets and faculty. He announced that Cadet College Wana would be renovated and upgraded.
“Our brave soldiers not only defeated the attack but sent the militants to hell, crushing their conspiracy,” he added.
