Gold prices rise

KARACHI: Both local and international gold prices saw a sharp rise on Tuesday, as the world bullion value surpassed $4100 per ounce, traders said.

The price of gold per tola rose by Rs 5900, reaching Rs 435,752, while the rate for 10 grams climbed by Rs 5065 to settle at Rs 373,595, according to the All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers’ Association.

In the international market, gold prices surged by $59 per ounce, touching $4134 with silver trading at $51 per ounce, up by $1.44, it cited.

Domestic silver prices also followed the uptrend, soaring by Rs144 and Rs124 to reach Rs5353 per tola and Rs4589 per 10 grams, respectively, the association added.

It is worth noting that the open market may trade gold and silver at different prices as compared to those fixed by the association officially.
