ISLAMABAD: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Monday granted interim bail to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa President Junaid Akbar in a case registered against him and others in 2024.

ATC judge Abual Hasnat Muhammad Zulqarnain approved interim bail of the PTI MNA and provincial president Akbar until December against the surety bonds of Rs 5,000.

Following the surfacing of arrest warrants issued against PTI provincial president Junaid Akbar in 2024, he appeared before the court along with his lawyer, Ayesha Khalid, in connection with a case registered against him and others at the Kohsar Police Station.

According to PTI lawyer Fateh Ullah Burki, the warrants in question were originally issued in 2024 in connection with case number 1032 registered at the Kohsar police station. Of the 195 individuals nominated in the case, 105 have been arrested. He said that the Secretariat Police visited the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House in Islamabad on November 6 to enforce the warrants. Police presented the documents to the KP House administration, which informed them that Chief Minister Afridi and Junaid Akbar were not present at the premises.
