TOKYO: Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi said on Monday she hopes the central bank guides monetary policy to sustainably achieve 2% inflation that is driven not by rising raw material costs, but wage increases.

“I hope the Bank of Japan continues to work closely with the government with an eye on economic, price and financial developments,” Takaichi told parliament.
