PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Afridi has announced the extension of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service to Tedi Bazaar (Jamraud) and Bara Bazaar of district Khyber.
He said that the Peshawar BRT provides an affordable and quality transport facility to the poor and middle class. “To reduce overcrowding in BRT buses, 50 new buses have been purchased, while another 50 will be added very soon.”
As per details, the Chief Minister visited the BRT’s University of Peshawar Station, where he interacted with citizens to gather feedback about the service. Accompanied by elected representatives and the Chief Secretary, he travelled by bus from the University of Peshawar Station to the Karkhano Station.
Later, speaking to the media, he said that his purpose in travelling by BRT was to personally assess the service.
To a question about the constitutional amendment, the Chief Minister opined that the 27th Constitutional Amendment is against the spirit and essence of democracy. “The government currently in power has only 17 seats. They neither have the people’s mandate nor the authority to amend the Constitution,” he asserted.
In response to another question, the Chief Minister announced that Peace Jirga will be held on November 12 to find a permanent solution for peace and the elimination of terrorism.
