LAHORE: The Crop Reporting Service Punjab has reported that the picking of seed cotton equivalent to more than 0.9 million bales has been completed so far in the province. Cotton inspectors have been directed to maintain accurate records of seed cotton arrivals in ginning factories and lint production. Field reports indicate that the condition of cotton is satisfactory and no alarming pest or disease outbreak has been reported from any area.

Secretary Agriculture Punjab Iftikhar Ali Sahoo stated this while chairing a meeting to review the cotton crop on Saturday. He directed that a survey report of well-performing cotton varieties should be prepared for future cultivation.

Secretary Agriculture Punjab, Iftikhar Ali Sahoo, said that ensuring the revival of cotton is a national duty. This year, cotton has been cultivated on 3.2 million acres. To achieve the target of 5.5 million cotton bales, field activities must be further accelerated.

The meeting was held at Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Agricultural University Multan. The purpose of the visit was to review the current status of cotton and the operational arrangements of the Model Agri Mall.

The meeting was attended by Special Secretary Agriculture South Punjab, Sarfraz Hussain Magasi; Vice Chancellor MNS Agricultural University Multan, Prof. Dr. Zulfiqar Ali; Chairman National Seed Regulatory Authority, Dr. Asif Ali; Additional Secretary Task Force Punjab, Shabbir Ahmed Khan; Director Generals of Agriculture Department Punjab, Ch. Abdul Hameed, Naveed Asmat Kahloon, Dr. Amir Rasool, Dr. Sajid-ur-Rehman, Dr. Abdul Qayyum; Agriculture Department Consultant, Dr. Muhammad Anjum Ali; Chief Executive PARB, Dr. Abid Mehmood; Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Bandesha; cotton grower Syed Hassan Raza; Khalid Mahmood Khokhar; Dr. Khalid Hameed; Chief Engineers of Irrigation Department, as well as relevant officers of Agriculture Extension and Pest Warning Wing.

In addition, Secretary Agriculture Punjab, Iftikhar Ali Sahoo, visited the Model Agriculture Mall established in Multan and reviewed the operational arrangements. On the occasion, he said that according to the company management, all four Model Agri Malls will become fully operational by the end of September.
