Keeping pets animals in homes: LHC bars petitioner from posting proceedings on social media
LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday barred a petitioner from posting court proceedings on social media against keeping pets animals in homes.
The court adjourned the proceedings of a petition filed by a woman Gul Naz till June 20 and sought suggestion from the petitioner and concerned department for shifting of dogs and cats from Tolinton Market Lahore.
The court also expressed its dismay over the Punjab government for not increasing fine and punishment for keeping lions at homes.
The court remarked that protection and safety of birds and pet animal is a sensitive issue, therefore, it wanted to shift this market to other place.
Earlier, the petitioner’s counsel told the court that though the Tolinton market has been renovated and upgraded but still birds and pets are being kept in unhealthy condition. The petitioner's counsel also contended that pet lions were currently being kept in residential areas on rooftops.
On a court query a law officer told the court that a committee was formed on the court order, but it is not active yet.
The court directed the government to activate the committee and submit a detail report on the issue on the next hearing.
