Uganda shilling stable; to gain as banks cut dollar positions

KAMPALA: The Ugandan shilling was steady on Friday and was expected to gain ground, helped by commercial banks trimming their long dollar positions amid slowing demand, traders said.

At 0852 GMT commercial banks quoted the shilling at 3,840/3,850 per dollar, compared with Thursday’s closing rate of 3,845/3,855.
