Seven candidates elected senators unopposed from Punjab

LAHORE: In the Senate elections 2024, seven candidates from Punjab, including Federal Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi, have been elected unopposed after the withdrawal of nomination papers by other candidates.

The other senators elected unopposed are Ahad Khan Cheema, Pervaiz Rasheed, Talal Chaudhry, Nasir Mahmood Butt of the PML-N, and Hamid Khan and Raja Nasir Abbas of the PTI-led Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC).

Among those who withdrew from the race are Mustafa Ramday from the technocrat seat, and Shahzad Waseem, Musadiq Malik, Waleed Iqbal, Umar Sarfaraz Cheema, and Ijaz Minhas from the general seats.

After the withdrawal of the nomination papers, over a dozen candidates remain in the race for the remaining five seats in Punjab.
