Slovenia, which narrowly avoided an international bailout for its banks in 2013, returned to growth a year later and has since significantly reduced unemployment with the help of strong economic growth which reached 5 percent last year.

"The jobless number fell in February in all regions (of Slovenia) after rising in the previous two months due to seasonal factors," the service said in a report, adding new jobless registrations fell by 54.1 percent compared to January.

In December and January the number of jobless people rose mainly due to a large number of expired short-term labour contracts.

The February jobless rate will be released in April. It reached 9 percent in December, the latest data available, when there were 85,060 unemployed.

The government anticipates the number of jobless will fall to an annual average of some 82,200 this year.
