Activities of Karachi Port and Port Qasim

KARACHI: The Karachi Port Trust handled 94,509 tonnes of cargo comprising 72,212 tonnes of import cargo and 22,297 tonnes of export cargo during last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours.

The total import cargo of 72,212 comprised of 60,354 tonnes of Containerized Cargo, 6,527 tonnes of Bulk Cargo & 5,331 tonnes of Chickpeas.

The total export cargo of 22,297 tonnes comprised of 22,297 tonnes of Containerized Cargo.

Nearly, 6477 containers comprising of 4680 containers import and 1797 containers export were handled on Wednesday.

The break-up of imported containers shows 899 of 20’s and 1626 of 40’s loaded while 09 of 20’s and 260 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 408 of 20’s and 406 of 40’s loaded containers while 01 of 20’s and 288 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

Approximately, 04 ships namely Vancouver, Msc Roberta V, Independent Spirit and Ssl Kaveri have berthed at Karachi Port.

Some 03 ships namely, Cma Cgm Figago, Martorell and Msc Roberta V have sailed at Karachi Port.

PORT QASIM

A total of 07 ships were engaged at PQA berths during the last 24 hours, out of them three ships, Maersk Atlanta, Hafnia Providence and Theresa are expected to sail on 31st May, 2023.

Cargo volume of 169,440tonnes, comprising 146,490 tones imports Cargo and 22,950 tonnes export cargo, including containerized cargo carried in 4,250 Containers (2,900 TEUs Imports and 1,350 TEUs export) was handled at the port during last 24 hours.

There are 05 ships at Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim, out of them two ships, EM Astoria and Nave Aquila &another ship, Yasa Uranus Schedule to Load/offload Containers, Gas oil and Cement are expected to take berths at Qasim International Container Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Multi-Purpose Terminal respectively on Wednesday, 31stMay, & an other containers ship, Vancouver is due to arrive at Port Qasim on Thursday, 1st June, 2023.
