Activities of Karachi Port and Port Qasim

KARACHI: The Karachi Port Trust handled 124,894 tonnes of cargo comprising 86,381 tonnes of import cargo and 38,513 tonnes of export cargo during last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours.

The total import cargo of 86,381 comprised of 28,550 tonnes of Containerized Cargo, 7,671 tonnes of Canola and 50,160 tonnes of Oil/Liquid Cargo.

The total export cargo of 38,513 tonnes comprised of 24,822 tonnes of containerized cargo, 3,565 tonnes of Clinkers, 2,641 tonnes of Rice and 7,485 tonnes of Talc Powder.

As many as, 5603 containers comprising of 2131 containers import and 3472 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The break-up of imported containers shows 607 of 20’s and 750 of 40’s loaded while 00 of 20’s and 12 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 232 of 20’s and 378 of 40’s loaded containers while 278 of 20’s and 1103 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

Some 03 ships namely, Safeen Pride, Scf Alpine and Cosco Roterdam have berth at Karachi Port.

About 04 ships namely, Kota Nekad, Athena, GFS Perfect and Nordultra have sailed out from Karachi Port.

Approximately 07 cargoes namely, Glen Canyon, Oriental Daphne, Tarlan, Hyundai Oakland, Northern Dexterity, TRF Kir kenes and UACC Shams were expected to arrive at the port.

PORT QASIM

Berths were engaged by 10 ships during the last 24 hours, out of them, three container ships, MSC Cancun, Seamax Norwalk and Glen Canyon left the port on Thursday morning while three more ships, Gulf Crystal, Chemroad Hope and FCL Harmony are expected to sail from FOTCO, LCT and MW-1 on today in the afternoon.

Cargo handling remained upward trend during the last 24 hours where a cargo volume of 217,404, tonnes, comprising 155,099 tonnes imports cargo and 62,305 tonnes export cargo, including containerized cargo carried in 4,896 Containers (1,231 TEUs Imports and 3,556 TEUs export) was handled at the port.

There are 07 ships at Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim, out of them three ships, Star Flame, Afra Laurel and Irenes Ray & another ship Athenian carrying Coal, Furnace oil and Containers are expected to take berths at FOTCO, PIBT and QICT respectively on Thursday, 23rd December, while another ship ‘APL Oregon’ is due to arrive at Port Qasim on Friday, 24th December-2021.
