Activities of Karachi Port and Port Qasim

KARACHI: The Karachi Port Trust handled 154,579 tonnes of cargo comprising 100,074 tonnes of import cargo and 54,505 tonnes of export cargo during last 24 hours ending on Friday.

The total import cargo of 100,074 comprised of 44,143 tonnes of Containerized Cargo, 6,640 tonnes of Bulk Cargo, 2,509 tonnes of MOP, 3,200 tonnes of Rock Phosphate, 2,866 tonnes of Wheat and 40,716 tonnes of Oil/Liquid Cargo.

The total export cargo of 54,505 tonnes comprised of 29,227 tonnes of containerized cargo, 508 tonnes of Bulk Cargo, 22,270 tonnes of Clinkers and 2,500 tonnes of Oil & Liquid Cargo.

As many as, 7929 containers comprising of 4577 containers import and 3352 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. The break-up of imported containers shows 1020 of 20’s and 1710 of 40’s loaded while 05 of 20’s and 66 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1009 of 20’s and 396 of 40’s loaded containers while 163 of 20’s and 704 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours. Approximately, 06 ships namely, OOCL Charleston, X-Press Bardsey, Datal, OOCL Fenoa, Dm Jade and Ital Unica have berth at Karachi Port.

Nearly, 07 ships namely, Agapi S, Msc Clea, Oel Kedarnath, Hyundai Busan, Oriental Cosmos, Maud and California Trader have sailed out from Karachi Port.

Some 10 cargoes namely, Chemobean Leo, Nordmerkur, Chemroute Oasis, As Alva, Brooklands, Songa Breeze, Summer Ploeg, MSC Erminia, Kota Megah and Captain Haddock were expected to arrive on the same day.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 201,823 tonnes, comprising 163,752 tonnes imports cargo and 38,071 tonnes export cargo, including containerized cargo carried in 4,947 Containers (2,762 TEUs Imports and 2,185 TEUs export) was handled at the port during last 24 hours .

There are 18 ships at Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim, out of them five ships, Express Athens, Sibal, Greenwinvh Pioneer, Great Progress and Banglar Argadoot & another ship Chemroad Sea carrying Containers, General cargo, Wheat, Coal, Palm oil and Chemicals are expected to take berths at QICT, MW-2, FAP, PIBT, LCT and EVTL respectively on Friday, 26th November, while two more container ships ‘Diyala’ and Maersk Jalan are due to arrive at Port Qasim on Saturday, 27th November-2021.
