Senate body told: Number of containers, transit trucks has increased

ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Member Customs (Policy) Dr Muhammad Saeed Khan Jadoon said that the number of containers and transit trucks between Pakistan and Afghanistan has increased from 800 per day to 1,100 to 1,200 per day.

The FBR Member Customs informed the Senate Standing Committee on Finance that the bilateral trade between Pakistan and Afghanistan has been increased as the number of containers and transit trucks has been considerably increased.

Over 600 containers of transit trade cleared

The bilateral trade between Pakistan and Afghanistan would further increase in the coming days. He said that the FBR's data received from all Customs stations with Afghanistan revealed that the number of containers daily coming from Afghanistan has increased. These included stuck up empty containers, cargo, and transit trucks. The number of transit trade containers, which was 800 per day has now increased to 1,100 to 1,200 per day.

On the conclusion of meeting at the Parliament House, the FBR Member Customs (Policy) informed Business Recorder that thousands of stuck up empty containers have started coming back from Afghanistan to Pakistan through transit routes after takeover of new Taliban government in Afghanistan.
