Updated 06 Sep, 2021

The Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) postponed on Monday all interviews and psychological assessments scheduled for this week.

β€œIt is informed that all ongoing and scheduled interviews from 07-09-2021 to 10-09-2021 (Tuesday-Friday) and Psychological Assessment dated 08-09-2021 (Wednesday) have been postponed,” a notification issued by the PPSC said.

The commission's spokesperson has said that the decision was taken due to the suspension of inter-city transport by the provincial government.

Last week, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) had imposed a new set of restrictions in areas with high coronavirus prevalence in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), and Islamabad from September 4 till September 12 to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

Under the new restrictions, public transport will remain banned and indoor gyms and educational institutions will remain closed.

The new dates for interviews will be notified to shortlisted candidates through SMS, the notification added.

The fourth wave of Covid-19 infections has continued to take its toll in the country with policymakers announcing various measures to increase the pace of vaccination as well as to curb the spread of the novel virus. According to the NCOC, the country reported 3,613 Covid-19 infections during the last 24 hours with the positivity rate being 6.3 percent.

Punjab was the most-affected province, reporting 1,784 cases and 27 virus-related deaths, followed by Sindh with 1,016, KPK 468, and Balochistan 29. Similarly, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu, and Kashmir reported 198, 12, and 106 cases, respectively.
