Federal govt usurping rights of provinces: minister

KARACHI: Sindh Industries and Commerce Minister Jam Ikramullah Dharejo said it is very unfortunate that the federal government is usurping the rights of provinces and inflation and unemployment are increasing in the country due to incompetent and poor policies of the federation.

The minister was speaking at the inauguration of Street Light Scheme during his visit to North Karachi Association of Trade and Industry (NKATI). He said Sindh government stood by the industrialists to resolve their issues.

The promises made by the Sindh government to the industrialists are being fulfilled while federal government has not fulfilled a single promise made to the industrialists, Jam Ikramullah Dharejo added.

The minister said according to the vision of Pakistan People’s Party chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari and under the guidance of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, the Sindh government is going to create more industrial zones. These industrial zones will provide a lot of employment opportunities along with industrial development.

He said the Sindh government was working to improve SITE Karachi infrastructure. So far, the chief minister has given Rs 1 billion for the improvement of the infrastructure of the SITE and development work has been started.

Jam Ikramullah Dharejo said the Sindh government would allocate more money for the improvement of industrial zone. While the treatment plant project is underway.

He said Sindh is the lifeblood of Pakistan’s economy and Karachi exports 80 percent to 54 percent of its merchandise. The federal government has pushed Sindh’s industry to the brink of disaster with expensive electricity, gas and load shedding.

The CEO of North Karachi Association of Trade and Industry Sadiq Muhammad, president NKATI Faisal Moeez Khan, secretary industries Muhammad Riaz, Deputy Commissioner West Raja M B Dharijo and others were also present on the occasion.
