HAMBURG: Jordan’s state grains buyer is thought to have purchased 60,000 tonnes of animal feed barley in an international tender which closed on Tuesday, traders said.

The state buyer purchased the barley from COFCO International at $253 a tonne, including cost and freight (c&f) for shipment in the second half of October, they said.

Two other companies were reported to have made offers in the tender: Viterra at $262 a tonne c&f and Bunge at $272 a tonne c&f.

Jordan had been seeking to buy 120,000 tonnes in the tender.

The country had not made any purchases in its two previous barley tenders.
