SHC serves notices to authorities on Haleem Adil’s bail plea

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday issued notices to authorities relevant on a bail plea of Pakistan Tahreek-i-Insaf (PTI) MPA and opposition leader Sindh Assembly Haleem Adil Shaikh.

The court heard bail plea of PTI leader and issues notice to parties including Sindh Prosecutor General and Investigation Offices of the case. The court sought reply from Sindh Prosecutor General, Investigator and others.

“Sometimes they leave snakes in Sheikh's cell, sometimes they do something,” Shaikh’s lawyer Khwaja Shams Islam argued. He argued with the court that his client Haleem Adil Sheikh was arrested on baseless charges. He said Shaikh was arrested on the instructions of Sohail Anwar Sial.

Police encounters, terrorism and other articles have been added to Shaikh’s case, the lawyer told the court. “How much punishment can be given to the accused under these provisions?” the court asked. There are different punishments, from 3 to 7 years, the lawyer replied.
