The ANP has neither supported any unconstitutional step in the past nor it would back any such attempts in future, he said this while addressing a public meeting at his home in district Charsadda.
"Many people would moan if there was no democracy in the country", he said adding that for the first time in Pakistan's history; DG ISI and Army Chief appeared before the parliament.
All the powers had been returned to the Parliament, which was made possible only due to democracy, he said. The survival of the country he said laid in promotion of democratic norms and for the first time the powers granted to the parliament under 1973 constitution have been returned back.
He said that if all institutions abide by their constitutional limits, then there would be no crisis in the country. The role and functions of all the state organs were clearly defined in the country's constitution.
The ANP being a democratic entity believed in promotion of democratic norms in the country and will never support any undemocratic move.
About talks with the militants, the ANP chief said that they had negotiated for the sake of the peace and now they were ready for talks with those who accept the government's writ.
The ANP President said he would pursue the political path shown to him by his grandfather Baacha Khan and father Khan Abdul Wali Khan who mainly focused around serving the Pukhtoon nation and protection of their rights.
He challenged the opponents that he would quit politics if anyone proved that progress made during last three-and-a-half years in District Charsadda by the followers of Baacha Khan had any precedence since inception of the country in 1947.
Without naming Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao, he said, he was elected twice Chief Minster of the Province but failed to deliver and did nothing for the people of Charsadda district except building his own empire.
Asfandyar Wali Khan said that establishment of lasting peace on the soil of Pukhtoons was the next destination of the ANP and it was endeavoring towards this end.
The public meeting was also addressed among others by Chief Minister KP Ameer Haider Khan Hoti, Provincial President of ANP Senator Afrasiab Khan Khattak, Provincial Ministers Mian Iftikhar Hussain, and Arshad Abdullah.
The ANP's Central leader and Federal Minister for Railways Ghulam Ahmed Bilour, Senator Zahid Khan, Senator Haji Muhammad Adeel, Bashir Ahmed Bilour, and Sardar Hussain Babak were present on the occasion.
