TOKYO: Japanese rubber futures fell on Tuesday after a key sentiment index dropped sharply for November, pointing to the impact on demand of a new wave of Covid-19 infections. Osaka Exchange's rubber contract for May delivery finished 5.7 yen, or 2.3%, lower at 241.4 yen per kg.

Japan's service sector sentiment index fell sharply in November, a Cabinet Office survey showed, suggesting the recent resurgence in coronavirus cases is weighing on business confidence. To help support the economy Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga announced a fresh $708 billion economic stimulus package on Tuesday targeting investment in new growth areas such as green and digital innovation. The rubber contract on the Shanghai futures exchange for May delivery fell 2.1% to finish at 14,605 yuan per tonne.
