THE RUPEE: Strength on rise

KARACHI: On Wednesday, PKR continued its upward trend. It went up against USD in both interbank and open markets while also strengthening against Euro and SAR in open market. Against AED, it went down for selling while going up for buying in open market.

INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: In the interbank market, Pakistan Rupee gained 28 paisas for both buying and selling against USD over yesterday's rates closing at 158.37 and 158.47 respectively.

OPEN MARKET RATES: In the open market, PKR gained 35 paisas for buying and 40 paisas for selling over yesterday's rates closing at 158 and 158.25 respectively.

Against Euro, PKR gained one rupee for both buying and selling closing at 184.50 and 186 respectively.

Against UAE Dirham, PKR went up by 20 paisas for buying while going down 75 paisas for selling closing at 42.70 and 43.90 respectively.

Against Saudi Riyal, PKR gained 30 paisas for buying and 35 paisas for selling closing at 41.50 and 41.65 respectively.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee appreciated its worth in the process of trading against the greenback in the open market on Wednesday.

Following fresh buyers' interest in the market, the greenback remained under selling pressure throughout the trading session and ended lower for buying and selling at Rs 158.00 and Rs 159.50 against the overnight closing trend of Rs 158.55 and Rs 159.80 respectively, local currency dealers said.

Furthermore, the rupee stayed unchanged against the pound sterling for buying and closed at Rs 207.00 whereas it lost 30 paisas for selling and ended at Rs 208.80 against the opening rate of Rs 208.50, they added.

RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee gained 20 paisas against the dollar at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Wednesday.

The dollar opened at Rs158.80(buying) and Rs158.90(selling) against last rate of Rs159(buying) and Rs159.10(selling).

It closed at Rs158.80(buying) and Rs158.90(selling).

The buying and selling rates of one tola of gold was Rs. 111,600(selling) and Rs113,400(buying) at the local Sarafa (gold) markets of twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi
