THE RUPEE: PKR slightly down

KARACHI: On Friday, upon market closing, PKR slightly went down against USD in both interbank and open markets. It also went up slightly against Euro for buying while going down for selling in open market.

INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: In the interbank market, Pakistan Rupee lost 10 paisas for buying and 20 paisas for selling against USD over yesterday's rates closing at 163.80 and 164 respectively.

OPEN MARKET RATES: In the open market, PKR lost 10 paisas for buying while remaining unchanged for selling over yesterday's rates closing at 163.90 and 164.10 respectively.

Against Euro, PKR went up by 10 paisas for buying while going down by one rupee for selling closing at 191.50 and 193 respectively.

Against UAE Dirham, PKR lost 5 paisas for buying while remaining unchanged selling closing at 44.45 and 44.60 respectively.

Against Saudi Riyal, PKR remained unchanged for both buying and selling closing at 43.30 and 43.50 respectively.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee stayed unchanged on the buying side while it deprecated its worth on the selling side in relation to the greenback in the local currency market on Friday.

According to currency dealers, the greenback did not witness any change in its demand as it firmly closed for buying at Rs 163.50 whereas it gained 30 paisas for selling and ended at Rs 164.80 against the overnight closing trend of Rs 164.50.

Furthermore, the national currency failed to sustain and depreciated its worth against the pound sterling. Consequently, the pound's buying and selling rates rose from Thursday's closing trend of Rs 210.50 and Rs 212.50 to Rs 211.20 and Rs 213.00 respectively, they added.

RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The dollar gained 10 paisas against the rupee at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Friday.

The dollar opened at Rs164.30 (buying) and Rs164.40 (selling) against last rate of Rs164.20 (buying) and Rs164.30 (selling).

It closed at Rs164.30 (buying) and Rs164.40 (selling).

The buying and selling rates of one tola of gold was Rs. 115,300(selling) and Rs115,100(buying) at the local Sarafa (gold) markets of twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
