US wheat futures fall as dollar rallies

  • K.C. hard red winter wheat futures and MGEX spring wheat futures also posted lower closes.

CHICAGO: Chicago Board of Trade soft red winter wheat futures fell 1.8% on Wednesday as the dollar's rally to an eight-week high dimmed prospects for US wheat exports, traders said.

K.C. hard red winter wheat futures and MGEX spring wheat futures also posted lower closes.

The benchmark CBOT December soft red winter wheat contract dropped below key technical points at its five-day and 20-day moving averages during Wednesday's session.

A weekly USDA report on Thursday morning was expected to show wheat export sales in a range from 250,000 tonnes to 600,000 tonnes. A week ago, wheat export sales totaled 335,727 tonnes.
