Lahore motorway rape case: Rapist identified after DNA matches

The Punjab Forensic Authority have said that one of the samples taken from suspects after a woman was raped in front of her children on the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway has been matched.

According to local media news, the samples taken from the crime scene have matched with DNA already in the Punjab Forensic Authority’s database. The suspect whose DNA matched has been identified as a 25-year-old man from Bahawalnagar who raped a mother and daughter in 2013.

He is DNA was at three spots at the crime scene– the victim’s clothes, the smashed car window and inside the car of the victim.

On Wednesday, two men raped a woman at gunpoint when she ran out of fuel near Lahore’s Gujjarpura and was waiting along with her children for help on the motorway.

The two men broke her car window, and made her park on the roadside. They then took her and the children to a nearby forest and raped her. Later on, they robbed her of valuables which included Rs100,000 cash and jewelry.

The woman’s initial medical examination confirmed that she had been raped.
