THE RUPEE: Gains value

KARACHI: On Friday, Pakistan Rupee gained value against USD in both interbank and open markets. It remained unchanged against Euro while also going up against AED and SR in open market.

INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: In the interbank market, Pakistan Rupee gained 55 paisas for buying and 50 paisas for selling against USD over yesterday's rates closing at 165.80 and 166 respectively.

OPEN MARKET RATES: In the open market, PKR gained 30 paisas for buying and selling against USD over yesterday's rates closing at 166.10 and 166.40 respectively.

Against Euro, PKR remained unchanged for both buying and selling closing at 195.50 and 197 respectively.

Against UAE Dirham, PKR gained 10 paisas for buying and 5 paisas for selling closing at 45 and 45.25 respectively.

Against Saudi Riyal, PKR gained 5 paisas for buying while remaining unchanged for selling closing at 43.90 and 44.10 respectively.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee appreciated its worth in the process of trading against the greenback and the British pound in the local currency market on Friday.

Following lack of buyers' interest in the market, the greenback remained under selling pressure throughout the trading session and ended lower for buying and selling at Rs 166.00 and Rs 167.00 against the overnight closing trend of Rs 166.20 and Rs 167.20 respectively, local currency dealers said.

Similarly, the national currency also followed suit in relation to the pound sterling that was bought and sold at Rs 212.00 and Rs 214.00 against Thursday's closing rate of Rs 215.50 and Rs 217.00 respectively, they added.

RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee recovered 20 paisas against the dollar at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Friday.

The dollar opened at Rs166.60(buying) and Rs166.70(selling) against last rate of Rs166.80(buying) and Rs166.90(selling).

It closed at Rs166.60(buying) and Rs166.70(selling).

The buying and selling rates of one tola of gold was Rs121,600(selling) and Rs121,300(buying) at the local Sarafa (gold) markets of twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
