'Afghan-trained terrorist' arrested in Karachi

KARACHI: The law-enforcement agencies on Saturday arrested an Afghan-trained terrorist of Al-Qaeda Subcontinent from Karachi.

According to the police, the terrorist, Saeedullah alias Chhoti Duniya, was an expert of planting any kind of bomb.

The police have recovered from the terrorist's possession four kilograms of explosives, five detonators and their cables, and weapons.

The terrorist was planning to carry out a major terror strike in the commercial capital of Pakistan.

On August 20 last, authorities foiled a terrorist attack in Karachi after two most-wanted terrorists, belonging to a banned outfit, were killed in an exchange of fire with Rangers and Counter Terrorism Department (CTD). The Rangers and CTD conducted an intelligence-based joint operation in the metropolis' Baldia Town where the alleged terrorists were killed. The authorities said the pair was affiliated with the proscribed Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan's (TTP) "Ustad Aslam Group".

On July 19 last, intelligence agencies and police in Karachi had arrested six terrorists who were planning a major terrorist attack in the city. A senior police officer told a news conference in Karachi that the terrorists belonged to the Baloch Raaji Aajoi Sangar (BRAS), an alliance of Baloch armed groups, were arrested in an intelligence-based operation.
