SECP official goes missing

ISLAMABAD: An additional joint director of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) went missing since last night. Joint Director SECP Sajid Gondal who is also a former journalist, has gone missing from Islamabad since Thursday evening, police source said, while quoting Gondal's family members.

They said that his car was found outside the National Agricultural Research Centre (NARC) on Park Road on Friday morning after a call from 15. They said that the police took his car into their custody and had started an investigation.

Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mazari in a Tweet said that "disappearance of Sajid Gondal is of concern and we as govt have a duty to ensure his early recovery." Police has been directed to register an FIR, she said, adding that protection of each citizen's life is our Constitutional obligation. She said that the rule of law must prevail. All must be dealt with according to the law, she said.

SECP has expressed its solidarity with his family, and is providing complete assistance to the family in this moment. The SECP staff are praying and hoping for an early and safe return of Gondal.
