Federal Minister of Science and Technology Chaudhry Fawad Hussain has offered Sindh government his ministry’s assistance to develop water recharge stations.

Chaudhry in a tweet post on Friday said that the water recharge station technology developed by the Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR) is being used in Lahore, for the rapid drainage of stormwater.

He added that his ministry offered this technology to the Sindh government six months ago, however, the provincial government didn’t show much interest. “Ministry of Science and Technology will be happy to assist Sindh government in training their people at PCRWR Karachi to enable them to build water recharge stations,” he said while sharing video footage of the system in operation in Lahore.

It is pertinent to mention that the latest spell of record shattering rains raised havoc around the province and in the metropolis of Karachi in particular, with scores of people perishing and the sewage and power system collapsing, which lead to massive infrastructure and property damage.

To this day, several areas of the city remain inundated in water as people struggled to perform their daily routines.
