Army chief says Karachi issues to be resolved within 3 years

KARACHI: Army Chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa Tuesday assured the business community that the infrastructural issues of Karachi would be resolve within next three years.

A delegation of the city's businessmen met Army Chief at Core Headquarters Karachi after he arrived in the city on a two-day visit.

Business community in its meeting with the army chief shared problems they faced after disastrous spell of rains in the city.

The business community delegation included FPCCI President Anjum Nisar, Chairman Businessmen Group Siraj Qasim Teli, President Karachi Chamber of Commerce (KCCI) Agha Shahab Ahmed Khan, Aqeel Karim Dhedhi, Zubair Tufail, Khalid Tawab, Mian Zahid Hussain, Shaheen Ilyas Sarwana, Zaid Bashir, Zahid Saeed, Imran Moiz, Arshad Wali Muhammad, Zakriya Usman and others.

Traders also shared their grievances on the 'poor' performance of provincial government.

According to the business community, the COAS has vowed action against those who failed to deliver to DHA residents.

Army Chief apprised the businessmen that a committee has been constituted comprising representatives of federal and provincial governments to resolve the issues of Karachi.

He said that business community would also have its representation in the committee.

He said the army would play a role of a facilitator in the committee on the rehabilitation of city and to issues of Karachi would be resolved within next three years. "Infrastructural issues including roads, gas, electricity and water would be resolved within three years," the army chief said.
