RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee showed strength as it appreciated its worth against the American dollar in the local currency market on Tuesday.

Following lack of buyers' interest in the market, the dollar remained under selling pressure throughout the trading session and ended lower for buying and selling at Rs 166.00 and Rs 167.40 against the overnight closing rate of Rs 166.50 and Rs 168.00 respectively, local currency dealers said.

On the other hand, the rupee continued downward slide for the second consecutive day versus the pound sterling. Consequently, the pound's buying and selling rates further improved from the Monday's closing trend of Rs 220.00 and Rs 221.80 to Rs 221.00 and Rs 222.00 respectively, they added.
