PARIS: Euronext wheat was little changed on Monday, consolidating below a three-week high struck before the weekend as traders awaited a clearer picture of the European harvest.

Front-month September milling wheat on Euronext settled 0.25 euros, or 0.1%, lower at 182.50 euros ($206.41) a tonne.

On Friday, it had risen to 183.50 euros, its highest since June 12, as concerns over mixed prospects for the European harvest supported prices.

A sharp rise in the euro against the dollar curbed Euronext on Monday, offsetting weather-fuelled gains for Chicago crop futures following a US holiday weekend.

In France, soft wheat harvesting was in its early stages and traders are watching to see if contrasting yields seen so far in the winter barley harvest are repeated in wheat.

The French market remained supported by slow selling by producers ahead of the harvest and by steady loading activity for wheat and barley, particularly from the west coast port of La Pallice.

In Germany, more rain forecast every day up to Friday was starting to raise the possibility of harvest delays.

"At the moment the rain is not a worry but wheat will need dry weather pretty soon with the harvest expected to start in late July," one German trader said.
