(Karachi) American rapper and singer Kanye West has announced that he plans to run for United States president. West made the decision after numerous statements by him in the past about his intentions to run for the highest office.

In a tweet on Sunday, the American singer said, " We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States."

West's announcement has been endorsed by Tesla CEO Elon Musk who tweeted, "You have my full support!"

The US Presidential Elections are scheduled for November 3, 2020. Though both the main parties -the Republic and Democrats have announced their official candidates, nominations are still open in many states.

With approximately four months left to the November election, West would not be able to get listed on the ballot in several states. It’s unclear if he will run as an independent candidate in the others or will run in a later election.

West previously expressed support for President Donald Trump. However, the singer has also mentioned an interest in running for president himself at various times over the years.
