Youth Parliament Pakistan (YPP) will meet on Thursday to hold parliamentary debates on relations between Pakistan and United States of America. Former Pakistan ambassador to United States, Riaz Khokhar will address the youth parliament, which consists of 60 young men and women.
Youth Parliament follows its own two-party system, an elected Leader of the House or Youth Prime Minister, Leader of the Opposition, a Youth Cabinet, a Shadow Cabinet and Standing Committees.
They will also be part of a 'Counter Extremism Exercise' as part of the Youth Parliament calendar. Embassy of Denmark has extended its support for the Youth Parliament 2012.
Pakistan Institute for Legislative Development And Transparency (Pildat) has been functioning as the Secretariat of YPP. A Steering Committee on YPP meets periodically to supervise the parliament. This Steering Committee is comprised of seasoned politicians and members of the National Assembly including former senator S. M. Zafar, MNA, Dr Donya Aziz, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Faisal Karim Kundi, MNA, Anusha Rehman, MNA, Nadeem Afzal Gondal, MNA, Khurram Dastagir and former speaker of the National Assembly Wazir Ahmed Jogezai.
