Pakistan Wapda Hydro Electric Labour Union (CBA) staged a demonstration against the privatisation of Wapda at Hyderabad Press Club on Wednesday. The hundreds of Wapda employees staged the demonstration and chanted slogans against the privatisation of the department.
Addressing the employees the President of Wapda Union, Abdul Latif Nizamani said that government wants to promote anarchy in the country and the decisions of Supreme Court are ignored, which is contempt of court while on the other hand national institutions are being destroyed, he said.
"After the destruction of PIA, Railway and HDA, now the government intends to abolish the big National Institution Wapda".
Nizamani alleged that Wapda is facing huge difficulties due to expensive electricity of rental power houses," if government provide us cheap fuel, gas and coal then Wapda does not need the expensive electricity of rental power houses and people will be facilitated with cheap electricity," he added. Latif Nizamani further said that government wants to abolish Wapda on the immense pressure of World Bank and IMF, which is step towards the privatisation of Wapda.
He announced that all the Wapda employees will protest on Labour Day (1st May) and also said that we will filed a case in Supreme Court against the privatisation of Wapda, loadshedding and expensive of electricity. Earlier, the rally of employees start from labour hall and staged a demonstration in front of Hyderabad Press Club, on that occasion, the provincial secretary Iqbal Qaimkhani, Mir khan Baloch, Malik Sultan Ali and others addressed the rally.
