Swiss franc weakens

Published Updated

The Swiss franc was slightly weaker on Wednesday ahead of the expected naming of a new permanent central bank head and after a shift back to risk currencies after a well-received Spanish debt auction and an upbeat German sentiment survey. The franc fell 0.2 percent against the dollar to trade at 0.9161 by 0650 GMT compared to the New York close.
The franc was flat against the euro at 1.2019. It has hovered just above the 1.20 per euro cap the Swiss National Bank set on the currency in September since it briefly broke through that level earlier this month on renewed euro zone debt worries.
