The Karachi Port handled 145,904 tonnes of cargo comprising1 83,328 tonnes of import cargo and 62,576 tonnes of export cargo including 5,437 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 83,328 tonnes comprised of 37,871 tonnes of containerised cargo; 4,697 tonnes of general cargo; 38,730 tonnes of bulk cargo: 34,500 tonnes of coal; 4,230 tonnes of rock phosphate and 2,030 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 62,576 tonnes comprised of 33,457 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,006 tonnes of cement and 27,113 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. A total number of 5,437 containers include 2,430 import and 3,007 export containers were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. The brake up of imported containers shows 1,290 of 20's and 546 of 40's of loaded while 48 of 20's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 956 of 20's and 462 of 40's loaded containers while and 369 of 20's 379 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
Five ships namely UASC Ajman, Lt. Genova, Lindavia, Ahoora and Blue Cat carrying three container ships and two general cargo ships respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. Three vessels viz Abdullatif-S, Tycoon-II and STX Patraikos with two bulk cargo ships and one container ship respectively are currently at the berths.
An oil tanker namely Sea Faith carrying two container ships and one general cargo ship respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday, while three ships namely Ginga Lanner, Ocean President and STX Patraikos with one oil tanker, one coal carrier and one container ship respectively are expected to sail on Wednesday.
A crude oil tanker viz MT Karachi due to arrive on Tuesday, while five vessels viz Santa Balbina, APL Brisbane, Rio Bravo, Equator Harmony and Tan Binh-22 with three container ships, one coal carrier and one soyabean meal ship respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday.
A total number of three vessels namely CV Safmarine Ngami, MV Chemroad Echo and MT Rapallo with containers, edible oil and canola seeds respectively during last 24 hours. As many as four ships namely Maersk Kingston, Al-Sabahia, Sunrise Wistria and Elicia with containers, edible oil and cement respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim.
A total number of four vessels viz CV Maersk Kingston, CV Al-Sabahia, MT Sunrise Wistria and MV Elicia with containers, edible oil and cement respectively are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal (MW-2) and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Tuesday.
