The capital city has witnessed rise in crimes as police have registered 11 robbery, eight car lifting and three murder cases during the last week, which belies the claims of police high ups that crime rate is declining in the city. According to information gathered from various police stations, Raman Police Station registered three cases of robbery and one case of carjacking during the last week.
While three case of carjacking and one case of robbery were reported with Margalla Police Station. Similarly, Golra Police Station registered two cases of robbery and one case of car lifting; Koral Police Station lodged one case each of car lifting and robbery and Sabzi Mandi Police Station registered on case each of murder and robbery. During the last week, Secretariat Police Station registered one case each of robbery and murder. Two cases of car lifting were lodged with Ternol Police Station and Aabpara Police Station while two cases of robbery were reported with Shahzad Town Police Station and Kohsar Police Station.
A police official said that car lifters mostly targeted small cars such as Suzuki Mehrans and motorcycles due to the growing demand of parts of smaller vehicles in the different parts of the country. The police negligence especially at the city exit and entry points was the major factor of rising car lifting in the city, he observed.
