'Punjab intends to revise child labour laws'

Provincial Minister for Labour & Auqaf Haji Ehsanuddin Qureshi has said that Punjab government intends to revise child labour laws in view of the ratification by Pakistan on International Labour Organization (ILO) conventions 138 and 182 on child labour. He said that ILO is assisting the government in adopting new laws under 18th amendment; labour department has been devolved to the provinces.
While talking to a delegation of labourers, Ehsan Qureshi said that Punjab government is a head from other provinces in the efforts to wipe out the child labour and with the cooperation of ILO, we have eradicated child labour in football industry at Sialkot whereas a new project has been launched to eliminate the worst form of child labour in four districts of the province.
Meanwhile, talking to the ulemas at Aiwan-e-Auqaf, Ehsanuddin said that ulemas should communicate protective steps regarding dengue virus to the public in their individual as well as collective contacts especially in Juma prayers.
He asked the ulema to teach the people regarding cleanliness of atmosphere so that to avoid dengue mosquito, fever and other epidemic diseases. The ulema can successfully execute the awareness campaign, he concluded.
