WEDNESDAY APRIL 04: Down payment with Mark-up: NAB invokes NAO against 4 RPPs
ISLAMABAD: The Interior Ministry has placed the names of 14 owners and Chief Executives Officers (CEOs) of Rental Power Plants (RPPs) on Exit Control List (ECL) on the request of National Accountability Bureau for alleged irregularities and non-transparency in rental power projects (RPPs).
According to a NAB official, the bureau also issued notices to four RPPs under NAO (National Accountability Ordinance) to refund the down payment along with the mark-up. These RPPs include Techno-E Power, Walters Power Naudero-I, Karkey Rental Power and Gulf Power Project. These companies have been directed to deposit the money within three days, he said.
According to a NAB official, fourteen CEOs of RPPs as well as the owners of power companies have been placed on the ECL. The owners and CEOs of RPPs whose names have been placed by the Interior Ministry on ECL include Muhammad Anwar Khan, CEO Techno-E-Power, Muhammad Rafiq Butt CEO M/s Young Gen, Muhammad Jamil Arain, CEO M/s Karkey, Ghulam Mustafa Tunio, CEO M/s Gulf Rental and Tariq Nazir CEO M/s Walter Power, Ghulzar Muhammad CEO M/s Alstome Power Rental, Abid Ali CE M/s Techno-E-Power, Habib Ullah Khan CE M/s Young Gen, Iqbal Z Ahmad Principal Officer M/s Pakistan Power, Orhan Remzi Karadeniz Chairman M/s Karkay, Haseeb Ahmad Khan CEO M/s Gulf Rental, Shah Faisal CEO M/s Reshma Power, Muhammad Nasarullah Baig Principal Officer M/s Walters Power, and Naeem Shafique Country Manager M/s General Electric Power.
The Interior Ministry on Monday placed the names of 14 officials, including three former federal ministers - former federal minister for water and power Raja Pervaiz Ashraf of incumbent PPP government while former federal minister for water and power Liaquat Jatoi and former federal minister for finance Shaukat Tarin - on the ECL in connection with RPPs on the directives of the Supreme Court.
