Clarifying a news item appeared in a section of the press about not setting up wheat procurement centres yet, the Provincial Food Department has stated that the date of starting procurement of wheat had been extended from 1st April to 8th April, 2012 due to the reports that new wheat crop arriving in the open market contains high quantity of moisture which may result into losses during long storage of wheat in term of quality and quantity/weight.
However, the food department has made all the necessary arrangement for procurement of the wheat from new date of procurement.
