The incidents of crime witnessed a sharp increase in the federal capital during the last week despite tall claims of strict security arrangements made by police to curb crime. According to information gathered from various police stations of the city, the capital police registered nine cases of robbery, five cases of car-lifting, two cases of murder, two cases of rape and a case of kidnapping of a girl during the week.
The police have been to trace the perpetrators in a majority of the cases. As per information, the robbers did not spare the city's VVIP locations and secretariat police registered two cases of robbery at Parliament Lodges and a case of car-lifting.
MNA Kashmala Tariq lodged a report with the police station of theft of a laptop and gas heater from her lodge whereas Senator Surrayya Ameeruddin was deprived of a music system and a gas heater in her apartment at the Parliament Lodges. Similarly, Margalla Police Station registered four cases of robberies, a case of car-lifting and kidnapping case during last week.
Kohsar Police Station registered one case each of robbery and car-lifting during the last week. Shahzad Town Police Station registered a case of murder, robbery and car lifting and also registered a rape case. A case was also registered in which six people raped two girls after kidnapping them from the limits of Shahzad Town Police Station.
