Sweepers treat patients at THQ hospital

Published Updated

Paramedics work in place of doctors and sweepers in place of paramedics to treat patients at the tehsil headquarters hospital here due to shortage of staff. An official of the hospital, seeking anonymity, told APP here on Sunday that even life-saving drugs, snake-bite vaccine and oxygen were not available for patients at the 120-bed hospital.
Civic conditions at the Medical Colony and other parts of the hospital are also bad. When contacted, Dr Jam Jamil Akhter said that shortage of funds and staffs were the main reason behind the situation. He said the hospital's bed capacity had been increased to 120 but other requirements of upgradation were not fulfilled.
