Provincial Minister for Labour Haji Ehsan-ud-Din Qureshi has said that the Punjab government is giving due importance for providing state of the art health care, latest education and best residential facilities to the labourer community.
While talking to a delegation of workers, Haji Ehsan-ud-Din Qureshi said that all basic and modern residential facilities would be available to the workers in defence labour colony and workers welfare schools would be set up for the children of workers.
He said that special attention was being given to solve the labourers problems, therefore on the instructions of Chief Minister Punjab, public facilitation centres had been established in every department.
He said that the government was providing required funds for the completion of ongoing development projects launched by the labour department, whereas new welfare schemes would also be initiated specially for the provision of modern education to the children of labourers and residential facilities to them.
He said that a labour colony consisting of 1,296 houses at a cost of Rs 2,177 million had been constructed for workers on Defence Road Lahore and the flats would be distributed among the labourers through transparent balloting.
He said that free education including books, stationery, transport and uniform were also being provided to 28 thousand children of workers in 46 workers welfare schools of the province.
