German Consul General in Pakistan Dr Tilo Kilnner said on Tuesday that Germany will protect the interest of Pakistan at the European Union. Pakistan has been given the status of an ideal country for making investment, he added. Dr Kilnner visited HCCI office on Tuesday along with his wife Lajubow Jurjewna. He stressed the need for exchange of trade delegations between Pakistan and Germany.
"We will give opportunity to Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (HCCI) to represent itself at German Forum." Earlier HCCI President Goharullah said the visit of Dr Kilnner would provide us an opportunity to discuss and interact with regard to boosting our export.
He said the visit of Dr Kilnner will be a source of inspiration for the business community of Hyderabad that will go a long way in building strong bilateral trade relationship between the two states. Goharullah said the business community of Hyderabad felt that there were immense opportunities and demand for Pakistani goods in the German markets, adding that we hoped the visit of Dr Kilnner would be helpful for the business community of Hyderabad.
The HCCI president said that they also knew that Germany was one of the biggest European trade partners and some of the major German companies like Merk, Hoechst, Bayer, BASF, Siemens etc were making investment in Pakistan. However, the business forums of both the countries may further accelerate and enhance their efforts in increasing the bilateral trade relationship.
The HCCI President said: "Taking the opportunity of your presence we may bring to your kind notice that under the GSP scheme many items have been included in duty free list by the European Union. "We from the platform of HCCI would like to request you to use your good offices to influence the EU to include category 20 (Bedware items) in the list of duty-free goods."
Goharullah also requested Dr Kilnner to include the name of HCCI in the Pak-German Forum as the HCCI was planning to send a business delegation to Germany for boosting trade between the two states. Senior Vice President of HCCI Turab Ali Khoja, Vice President of HCCI Abdul Saleem Arain, Former President Shafique Ahmed Qureshi, Former Vice President Ziauddin, Saleem A. Shaikh Chairman Diplomatic Affairs Sub-Committee HCCI and Members HCCI Maqsood Ahmed Khan, Syed Yawar Ali Shah, and other members of HCCI were also present.
