Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to extend milk, meat improvement project
The project for improvement of Milk and Meat (PIMM) would be extended till next year after substantial growth in livestock and dairy products in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, said that the provincial Minister for Livestock & Dairy Development, Hidayatullah Khan while addressing at a function on Monday.
He said that the government is committed for development of the most potential and export oriented sector, saying that the project had played vital role for bringing improvement in milk and meat production in the province. He assured the farmers dealing in livestock and dairy farm business for further extension of the project. The function arranged by Pakistan Youth Organisation (PYO) in collaboration with Directorate of Livestock Research & Development at Peshawar Press Club.
The Deputy Speaker, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa legislative assembly, Khushdil Khan was chief guest on the occasion. Director General, Livestock & Dairy Development, Dr Ghufranullah, Central Chairman, PYO Saeed Sardar Bacha, president Livestock Farms Association Haji Hayat Khan, provincial and districts livestock and farms officers and other relevant officials of the department were present at the ceremony.
Hidayatullah said that the government had revived corporative bank in the province, which could extend loans and other benefits to farmers. He said that the government was taking every possible step for improvement of livestock and dairy products in the province. He informed that that government had extended special incentive and benefits to livestock farmers through special initiatives and programme. He said more than 200 dispensary had established for provision of free treatment facility to cattle under supervision of qualified veterinary experts. "Our ambition to yield quality livestock and dairy products in the province", he said.
The Deputy Speaker, in KP assembly Khushdil Khan, while speaking on the occasion said that the government had taken drastic steps for development of livestock and dairy sector in the province. He said that farmers are providing all kind of facilities and benefits under the different programme.
Earlier, giving details about the project PIMM, Director General Livestock & Dairy Development, Dr Ghufranullah informed that the Livestock sector is facing enormous challenges due to which overall production had immensely declined in the province. After launching the pilot in two districts of the province, including D.I. Khan and Peshawar, he said that a substantial growth seen in livestock and dairy products in these areas. He expressed the hope that the project would extend other parts of the province following positive results.
Central Chairman, PYO Saeed Sardar Bacha also spoke on the occasion, informed that participants about his organisation contribution for development of livestock and dairy development in the country, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Later, the Deputy Speaker, Khushdil Khan and the provincial Minister, Hidayatullah distributed souvenirs among district livestock officer over remarkable performance, while also administered oath from newly elected officer bearers of District Livestock Farmers Association.
