Twelve cases of robbery, three cases of car lifting, a case of murder and a road accident were reported to the city's various police stations in the last week. The incidents of robbery took place in the limits of Margalla, Shalimar, Bara Kahu , Shahzad Town, Aabpara, Sabzi Mandi, Secretariat and Kohsar police stations.
However, the ratio of car lifting was relatively low during the week compared to the previous week and carjackers stole three vehicles during the week, while previous week five cases of car lifting were reported to the city different police stations.
During the week Bara Kahu police registered three cases of robbery, Margalla police registered one case of car lifting and two cases of robbery. Similarly Shalimar police registered two cases of robbery. During the week carjackers murdered a person in the limits of Sabzi Mandi Police Station after snatching his car, cash and mobile phone as well as one case of robbery was reported to Sabiz Mandi police.
Sihala police registered one case of carjacking and Golra, Shahzad Town, Aabpara and Secretariat registered one case each of robbery. Police sources said that the Station House Officers (SHO) of police station including Bara Kahu, Sihala, Ternol and Sbazi Mandi did not register a number of cases of robbery and car lifting in order to show good performance to high officials. Another reason of rising car thefts is the fact that the police deployed at the city exit and entrance points have no proper equipment or record to check any suspected vehicle on the spot, officials further revealed.
