Sindh police on Saturday claimed to have nabbed eight alleged extortionists in two separate raids at different parts of Korangi Industrial Area. According to chief, Special Investigation Unit (SIU) SSP Shahjahan Khan, the arrests were made in two separate raids at different parts of Korangi Industrial Area.
He said the detained persons were identified as Rehman Qureshi alias Imran, Abid alias Kallu, Ramiz alias Mullah Qureshi, Mohammad Faisal Qureshi, Mohammad Amir alias Aapa, Shahbaz alias Shera, Shoaib and Saleem and added that the police had also recovered four hand grenades, seven pistols, one Kalashnikov and 6kgs of hashish from them.
He said this gang of extortionists, which had no political affiliation, was active in Karachi for last seven years and added that the ringleader of the gang namely Bholo Qureshi was still absconder. SSP Shahjahan further said the gang was nominated in several extortion and murder cases. Further investigation was underway to nab the absconded persons.
