Misconduct proceedings against Aitzaz demanded

Published Updated

A Supreme Court lawyer and Judicial Activism Panel Chairman Muhammad Azhar Siddique has demanded initiation of professional misconduct proceedings against Prime Minister's counsel Aitzaz Ahsan by Pakistan Bar Council disciplinary committee.
He in a statement issued here on Friday said that Aitzaz exposed to the misconduct proceedings by making wrong statements before Supreme Court regarding conveying of orders to Prime Minister. He said it was a part of record that after NRO judgment of 2009 and dismissal of government's review petition, the judgment got finality and nobody had jurisdiction to review or cancel the effect of judgment.
He said Ahsan being a legal expert had been advising at many times for writing of letter to the Swiss government. Azhar said Ahsan was bound to advice and base his opinion on correct facts but he had made wrong submissions on behalf of PM Yousuf Raza Gilani.
He said the PM's counsel in his arguments attempted to malign SC judges without any material evidence. He said his (Ahsan) arguments about Article 10A were not only frivolous, based on no facts but again an attempt to ridicule the judges of SC.
