Zakat/charity distribution: PPP MPA for introducing flawless mechanism

A Pakistan People's Party's (PPP) legislator on Wednesday showed concerns over the flawed mechanism of Zakat and charity dispensation amongst the poor in the province, urging the government to introduce a new set-up to help the needy people benefit from such financial assistance.
During Sindh Assembly session, the PPP's legislator, Ahmed Ali Shah, raised his concerns on a point of order that the poor of the province were also unable to receive monetary aid under the Benazir Income Support Programme for the flawed dispensation system. He said the government should introduce a new mechanism to fail those who were blocking the funds flow to the deserving people.
Earlier, Pakistan Muslim League Quaid-e-Azam's (PML-Q) lawmaker, Shaharyar Khan Mahar, withdrew his privilege motion, which he had brought in the house the other day against the chief engineer of Sukkur Barrage for not lodging his complaints on phone. During the session he did not insisted on taking up of his motion.
Sindh Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Ayaz Soomro, told the house that the concerned official had apologised to the legislator and gave explanation. He said with the explanation of the official, Mahar had been satisfied and was not insisting on his motion to be taken up.
